Budget
Årsmötet decides, within a budget, how föreningens should spend their money, and it is then up to the board to implement these decisions.
The treasurer has overall responsibility for ensuring that the board manages förening’s finances and spends förening’s money on matters that are in the members’ interests.
The auditors elected at the the annual meeting meeting shall ensure that the board carries out its duties in accordance with the members’ decisions and interests.
Financial accounting
To the annual meeting, you must report to the members on how föreningen has used its financial resources. This may be referred to as a financial report, an annual report or financial statements.
The financial accounts, together with the annual report for the year, shall form the basis for the decision on discharge from liability for the outgoing board.
Declaration
All operations entities registered with the Swedish Tax Agency must submit a tax return once a year. Find out more on the Swedish Tax Agency’s website.
As a general rule, all student associations entities are public-benefit organisations, and special rules apply in such cases. In particular, several different types of income that a föreningen may receive may be tax-exempt.
Therefore, it is possible to apply for exemption from submitting a ”special return”. If the Swedish Tax Agency approves the application, no tax return will need to be filed for five years.
Apply for a grant
As a association, there are various grants you can apply for. Below, we have listed them all, along with links to the application forms.
Start-up grant
This grant is for associations members who have joined SöderS in the last 6 months.
- The grant can provide up to SEK 3,000.
- Applications are made using the online form via the button below.
- Please include this in your förening’s next annual report.
- The amount can be transferred to you if föreningen has a förening account.
- It can be reimbursed against expenses if receipts are submitted.
It cannot be transferred to private individuals’ accounts.
Activity grant
As a member of förening, you can apply for funding from SöderS’s activity fund. Fill in the form and submit it!
- You can only apply for one specific activity.
- Apply using the online form via the link below.
- Applications are open all year round.
- The decision regarding the approval of your application will be made by the SöderS board at the next board meeting.
- You submit the report via a digital form no later than 2 months after the activity, which you can find linked at the bottom of this page.
Business support
This is a new annual grant for all affiliated associations organisations that submit their annual reports. There are no reporting requirements for the grant, but it is expected to be used to cover annual maintenance costs, such as bank account fees.
- The support can provide up to £1,500 per year.
- You must have a förening account.
- Applications are made once a year in late February in conjunction with the final reporting date.
- Requirement that föreningen must have submitted its most recent report.
Project grant
This is a new grant for projects whose purpose is shared by SöderS' goals and prioritised areas. These areas are specified each year and can be based on SöderS' most recently valid action plan. Projects are not given more support for a quantity of participants. Instead, they are assessed according to how well they are planned and fulfill SöderS' goals and prioritised areas.
- Application and reporting are done via digital forms.
- Applications are open two periods each year.
- Photographs of the implementation are requested as a requirement.
- Applicants consent to the project being displayed on, for example, the SöderS website.
- A total prize fund of 20,000 SEK is available for verksamhet to draw from.
- Two application periods per year in the middle of each term.
- Possible to apply for retroactively.
Security grant (new grant 2025)
SöderS’s security grant is intended to provide financial support to affiliated student associations organisations to enhance security at events. The grant can be used to help cover costs related to security, such as hiring security guards, purchasing security equipment or providing training in security matters.
- Associations organisations affiliated with SöderS may apply for the grant. Any association organisation applying must have reported its operation figures for the most recent relevant period.
- The grant is intended for activities where there is an identified need for security measures.
- Priority areas are events that are expected to attract large numbers of visitors or that involve an elevated risk of public disorder or security incidents.
- Maximum grant per association: SEK 10,000 per term.
