The main task of the Faculty Board is to ensure that Södertörn University's research and education maintain the highest quality. The Faculty Board shall participate in the university's overarching strategic work on the development of research, third-cycle education and first- and second-cycle education. It shall also monitor ethical issues of significance.

The governing board of the higher education institution consists of 15 members. The chair and seven members represent public interests and are appointed by the Government. Three members are elected by the teachers' assembly and three are appointed by the student union, of whom one must be a doctoral student. The Vice-Chancellor is also a member of the governing board. The trade union organisations have the right to attend and to speak.

The Strategic Collaboration Council was established in 2017 by the Vice-Chancellor and aims to develop structured work regarding strategic collaboration at Södertörn University as well as between the university and its partners. In addition, the SCC proposes long-term, short-term and prioritised collaboration activities to the Vice-Chancellor. The SCC also acts as a steering group for university-wide collaboration activities at Södertörn University.

During 2025, the Educational Planning Process project will focus on creating an efficient and user-friendly process for course and educational syllabuses, as well as the range of courses and programmes process. It will also investigate where it is most resource-efficient and legally secure to place tasks to optimise the workflow, and compare the costs of consultants and internal resources for managing communication. The project will also review communication within the range of courses and programmes process to make it easier to get things right.
