SöderS is the student union at Södertörn University. We are a non-profit association organisation which, every year, brings together thousands of members and hundreds of student representatives in our work to ensure high-quality education and legal certainty.
SöderS is the umbrella organisation for student life on campus; we bring together and support the students, and also run a student pub, a bookshop, a student radio station and exchange programmes.
SöderS is managed by a board consisting of elected student representatives chosen at the annual meeting. The board is supported by an office which handles the operational side of the organisation. The SöderS office comprises five full-time staff members, all of whom work both independently and as a team. The SöderS secretariat is a workplace where we believe it is important to take time to recharge, to help one another and to have fun at work. We believe that everyone should be given the space to develop and to play an active role in shaping both their professional role and the organisation’s development.

Internationalisation Council
Do you want to influence Södertörn University's international work?
The Internationalisation Council plays a central role in developing and securing support for internationalisation strategies across all parts of the university. As a student representative on the council, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute the student perspective on key issues – from exchange programmes and international collaborations to how the university creates a more global and inclusive learning environment.
The assignment gives you valuable experience of strategic work and decision-making processes at higher education level. You will collaborate with the Vice-Chancellor's adviser, faculty representatives and other key figures to ensure that internationalisation becomes a natural part of education and student life.

The Council for Widened Recruitment
Would you like to help shape Södertörn University's work for a more inclusive and accessible higher education?
The Council for Widened Recruitment drives the development of the higher education institution's work with widened recruitment and widened participation. As a member of the council, you will have the opportunity to work on developing and embedding strategies and plans that influence the future of the institution. You will also be involved in horizon scanning and following current research to strengthen the institution's work in this area. This role suits those who are interested in collaborating with various parts of the institution to contribute to a more equal and inclusive higher education.
Students studying courses in social sustainability, educational science, political science and communication has particularly good conditions to contribute to the council's work and to create a higher education institution that welcomes and supports all students!
The Promotions Committee
Are you interested in contributing to the development of teaching competence at Södertörn University?
The committee's remit is to work with the assessment and evaluation of teaching competence in order to stimulate and provide incentives for teachers' development work. As a student representative on the committee, you will have a unique opportunity to participate in assessment processes, handle applications and collaborate with external experts in education. The assignment is particularly relevant for students taking courses in pedagogic, educational science, communication or related subjects, but the main thing is that you have an interest in contributing to a high-quality educational environment.

Work placement at SöderS
SöderS can offer a small workplace with fun, educational and important tasks. Everyone who works at the student union has a different educational background; human resources, gender studies, environment and development, education, cultural anthropology, human rights, international migration and ethnic relations, and teacher training are a few examples. We can take on several interns at the same time from the same or different programmes. The internship can always be tailored to needs, requirements and interests.
The internship is full-time (33 hours/week) and runs by agreement. Working hours follow the operations and are generally: Mon-Thu 9-17, Fri 9-15, though evening hours may occur.
Supervision is primarily provided by SöderS' Secretary-General and other employees who work closely with the tasks and projects that will be relevant.
The working language of SöderS and Södertörn University is Swedish. As we also cater to international students, multilingualism is an advantage.
