The association's membership of the student union
The Student Union, SöderS, is the umbrella organisation that supports the university’s student associations in your activities. We facilitate and make your work easier. Through your membership with us, you can easily book venues for events, apply for financial grants and find support in running your förening group. Through the union, you also become part of the wider förening community, and we create forums and platforms for collaboration between us and amongst yourselves.
Documents to send to SöderS
To apply for membership in SöderS – Södertörn University Student Union, the following three documents must be sent to the SöderS board:
1. The association's adopted articles of association
These set out key details such as the purpose of förening.
2. Annual general meeting minutes
The minutes of the inaugural the annual meeting meeting must be attached to the förening application. The minutes must clearly state who was present, what decisions were taken and who has been elected to the förening board.
3. Formal application with at least 20 signatures
The application for membership must be seconded by twenty students who are members of the student union.
Requirements for approval as a member förening
The SöderS Board considers the application in the form of a motion, which it forwards to the annual meeting for a decision. However, the Board may provisionally appoint a association until the matter has been decided at the spring or autumn meeting.
For föreningen’s application to be approved, föreningen must:
- does not contravene SöderS’s adopted statutes, operation and policies
- is a non-profit organisation
- based on democratic values
- is open to all students at Södertörn University
- mainly carries out their operation at the university

As a newly established association, it can be helpful to receive a little support in funding some initial projects. That is why SöderS offers new member föreningars the opportunity to apply for a start-up grant.
