The nomination period for positions of trust within SöderS is now closed. Thank you to everyone who has nominated others and put themselves forward for the Union Board for 2026/27. The Nomination Committee will hold interviews with the candidates and present its proposal at the spring meeting in May. See you there!
As an elected representative, you get to help shape the student union's work, drive development and represent the students' perspective at Södertörn University. SöderS advocates for:
- Strong student influence and high-quality, legally secure education
- A vibrant campus
- A sustainable and transparent student movement.
To stand as a candidate (apply), you must be a student at Södertörn University and a member of SöderS. You must also have an interest in, curiosity about or experience of the student union’s operation programme and educational issues.
It is advantageous if you also have experience or an interest in:
- Economy and administration
- Socio-political engagement
- Communication and member-focused operation
We are looking for people with a variety of experiences and perspectives – drawn from different educational backgrounds and previous involvement, such as student associations, operations or previous student union work. The most important thing is that you are willing to get involved, take responsibility for your role and contribute to active, collaborative board work.

Board member
Serving as a member of the SöderS Executive Committee is a voluntary position of trust involving shared responsibility for leading and developing the student union. The Executive Committee, as a group, bears ultimate responsibility for staff and health and safety matters, for the organisation’s finances, and for ensuring compliance with the verksamhet plan. The role involves representing the students’ perspective at the university, contributing to strategic decisions, adhering to the verksamhet plan and the statutes, and ensuring that the board functions as a collective. The role is based on commitment, attendance, taking responsibility and a willingness to drive issues forward.
Scope of the assignment
As a board member, you are expected to:
- Attend board meetings (usually on Thursday afternoons, lasting around 3 hours, once a month) and relevant committee and project meetings
- Take part in the union's activities during the start of term, open days, and winter and summer events to represent SöderS
- Actively contribute to discussions, decision-making and day-to-day work, and adhere to the verksamhet plan and the articles of association.
- To act as an ambassador for SöderS in dealings with students, the university and external stakeholders
- Be prepared to read documents, reply to emails and contribute between meetings when the need arises
- Have a sustainable and active commitment with the opportunity to allocate weekly time for the position of trust, with periodically higher workloads during, for example, board meetings, projects or events.
All board members share collective responsibility for the board's overall work, where individual strengths and interests contribute to the whole.
Qualifications
As a board member, the following is expected:
- You are motivated, interested and keen to actively contribute to SöderS’s development and operation
- You are responsible, self-motivated and keen to drive issues forward within the framework of the organisation’s operation
- You can collaborate with different people and contribute to a positive and active board culture
- You have the opportunity to set aside time for the assignment throughout the entire term of office
Merit
It is advantageous if you have, for example:
- Previous involvement and participation in, for example, student life, association, another student union (verksamhet) or student representation
- Experience of voluntary work, project work or administration.
