Get priority access to exchange studies by getting involved in the student union.
Students who get involved in the student union during their studies can apply for merit points when applying for exchange studies.
When applying for exchange studies, the selection process is based on the number of higher education credits, the number of 'VG' grades and merit points. Good academic results and commitment during your studies therefore give priority to exchange studies.
Requirements for being awarded merit points
To obtain merit points for engagement and activities, the student is required to:
- has completed and concluded their assignment upon the issuance of merit points, or alternatively has held the assignment for at least one term
- has been formally assigned the task by a responsible department within SöderS, its associations or operations
- is a member of SöderS at the time of application
All applications for merit points are made retroactively after the assignment has been completed. Students cannot request merit points or certificates for engagement if SöderS no longer holds stored data about the student. The storage of students' and members' personal data by SöderS is regulated in the Data Protection Policy for Södertörns högskolas studentkår.
Students can be awarded a total of between 0.25 and 5 merit points. If the total merit value of the assignments exceeds 5, only 5 merit points are awarded.
Information to be provided upon application
Applications for merit points must include:
- a list of the assignments for which the student is applying for credit points, including a description of the assignments and the term or year in which they were carried out
- student's first and last name
- student's national insurance number
- student email address
Assignments eligible for merit points
To the eye, the scores look stingy compared to how the points system has looked in previous years. The current system, which is still relatively new, has decreased in numerical value - but increased in merit value. This means that positions within the student union now carry more weight in applications for studies abroad than they did before.
