On 24 April 2026, we, SöderS, celebrated our 30th anniversary. It was a whole evening with esteemed guests from students as well as other student unions across the country, featuring speeches, song and plenty of toasting. We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved who made our birthday celebration possible, and with that, share some reflections from the evening.
The evening began early with a three-course sit-down dinner at Restaurant Allé Elva. Stefie Mayazi, former board member, and Adam Hemdan, chair, guided us through the packed programme – which included, among other things, student songs between courses, spontaneous speeches, and the presentation of gifts.

SöderS Vice President Alexandra Bokström Niflis shares her thoughts on the anniversary and its significance for students at Södertörn University:
– The jubilee became an important occasion for us to pause in an otherwise fast-paced environment and be reminded of how much we have actually achieved together. With the foundation laid over these 30 years, we are well positioned to continue developing, strengthen student influence and student life, and create even better conditions for the students of the future.

Among the guests we found active students and union members, representatives from other student unions, partners, union alumni, and former employees.
– It was great that so many different types of corps friends celebrated with us. Everything from members, alumni, the university, other student unions and partners. It shows after all that SöderS is strong and remains relevant after 30 years, says Matilda Good, Secretary-General of SöderS, about the anniversary celebration.

After the sit-down dinner, it was off to SöderS Pub for the after-party with a quiz and dancing. The winners of the quiz were representatives from SSCO and THS (The Student Union of the KTH Royal Institute of Technology), who together got almost full marks on all the questions. As a prize, they got to take home a small trophy and an associate membership each.

Adam Hemdan, who is not only the President of SöderS but was also the toastmaster and host for the evening, takes away several insights from the night and from his time as an active member.
– SöderS 30th anniversary was a truly lovely evening. It was great to see so many faces – both old and new – gather and celebrate together. It becomes quite clear in moments like these that SöderS is what we make it. All engagement, big or small, is what has built up the union over time. So a huge thank you to everyone who was there and contributed to the atmosphere. We are looking forward and wishing 30 more years of student culture!
