Student information for the summer of 2025

The final exams have been written, degrees have been conferred, and the university premises are quieter than ever.

...SöderS is still here this summer, in stages! On this page, you as a new or continuing student will find summer information that is useful to keep track of!

Opening hours and secretariat availability

The office is closed from 20 June to 18 August. The premises will be locked until 11 August. Members of Associations and operations who need to access the premises during this period should contact us in good time via info@soders.nu.

Please note that during the summer we have longer response and processing times as staff are on holiday.

On 1 July, we welcome a new board, and in mid-July we unfortunately say goodbye to the SöderS legend Oskar M Wiik who are off on new adventures. We’re also saying goodbye to the verksamhet developers Matilda Good, who have given us so much knowledge and expertise during the past academic year. Would you like to say goodbye in person? Shoot them an email while you can, or drop by the department office before 20 June.

Frequently asked questions

A reduced staff does not mean that you as a student, new or returning, should feel lost. Below you will find answers to common questions during this period.

Can I become a member of the student union now?

If you have accepted your notification of admission to Södertörn University for the autumn term of 2025, you can register your membership for upcoming terms from 1 July. The membership is activated when your course registration (study pace) reaches our system. You can also become a member in person with us during the orientation week. You can register your membership here!

What happens at the start of the term?

The autumn term begins on 1 September 2025. The week will be filled with a formal ceremony, an introduction to the university’s operation programme, and welcome activities organised by our associations students. All information about the start of term will be published on the website in good time so that you can check out the programme and make your plans!

How do I join a student association?

SöderS offers both education-focused student associations and interest-based föreningar courses. Here We’ve brought together all our fantastic associations members, with details on how to follow their social media channels and how to become a member!

I am a new student and would like an introduction to the university. How do I go about it?

The week before the start of term, from Wednesday 27 August, Södertörn University, together with the student union, is organising a Soft launch week. During the day you will be given a tour of the university college and have the opportunity to meet various support services, such as Funka, Study and Career Guidance – and us!

Read more about the Soft Launch here!

How do I get the Mecenat card?

The digital Mecenat card is sent out automatically to registered students at Södertörn University two weeks after the start of the semester. If you want your Mecenat card sooner, you need to become a member of the student union. You will then immediately receive the combined membership and Mecenat card.

I have become a member and joined SSSB's housing queue, but my membership is not updating?

During the summer holidays, the syncs between our member system and SSSB are limited. However, you can remain in the housing queue for 90 days without being a member, so you don't need to worry about losing your place.

After 90 days, you must have a registered study load and an active membership. To be able to sign a tenancy agreement with SSSB, you must be studying at least 50 %.

I am going to apply for exchange studies and would like a transcript of records. How do I do this?

If you have been involved in the student union with a specific assignment during your studies, you may be entitled to merit points that increase your chances of exchange studies. The deadline to apply for merit points for the spring semester of 2026 is 18 July 2025.

Read more about merit points and apply for a certificate here.

What do I do if I feel I have been treated unfairly by a teacher or examiner?

If you feel that you have been treated unfairly by someone at the higher education institution, you should get in touch with our student and doctoral student ombudsmen. Regardless of whether you consider yourself to have been wrongly assessed on an examination, mistreated, or have problems with your study and working environment, we provide support and guidance.

Contact SöderS student and PhD ombud here so we will get back to you as soon as possible after the holidays.

Can't you find the answer to your question?
