About SöderS
SöderS is Södertörn University's student union. We are a non-profit student-run organization that every year brings together thousands of members and hundreds of student representatives in our work for a high-quality and legally secure education. SöderS is the umbrella organization for student life on campus; we gather and support student associations and run a student pub, bookstore, student radio and exchange activities.
SöderS is an exciting and dynamic organization in constant change. This places demands on an office that can provide continuity and be a safe haven, including a Secretary General.
About the roles
The Secretary General is the secretary of the Board and the link between the strategic board and the operational staff of the office and, in collaboration with the President, constitutes the operational unit of the Board. The role involves being responsible for the organization's ongoing financial work, follow-up of the student union's activities and being an administrative support for our associations as well as operational support for SöderS' organisational units.
As Head of the Office, the Secretary-General of SöderS is responsible for managing the staff of the Office, which consists of a Communications Officer and two Student and Doctoral Representatives. The Secretary-General is also responsible for creating and maintaining a sustainable and inclusive working environment that fosters development and community.
We are now looking for a committed person who, through a gender-equal and inclusive leadership, wants to lead the organization forward in the role of SöderS' new Secretary General.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who are confident, self-driven and solution-oriented and can lead the organization forward based on SöderS' business goals. As a person, we believe that you are good at having a strategic view in parallel with leading the operational work. You thrive in a changing organization and are driven by working with business development.
To thrive in the role of Secretary General, you should have:
- experience in work management and personnel management
- knowledge of budgeting and financial administration
You should have:
- knowledge of health and safety issues
- experience in organizational development
- good administrative skills
It is an advantage if you:
- have previous involvement or work in civil society and a good understanding of the relationship between a non-profit board and an office with employees
- have knowledge of and/or previous involvement in student-run organizations and higher education issues
- feel comfortable with public speaking
- have experience in crisis management
- have experience in gender equality work
- have knowledge or experience of broadened recruitment according to the Higher Education Act (1992:1434)
