On Tuesday, March 5, 2025, engaged student representatives gathered in the Union Wing for the third Influence Forum of the year. The focus was on an in-depth workshop on course and education plans, a key tool for ensuring the quality of students' education.
What are course and training plans?
Course and program syllabi are documents that describe the content, objectives and requirements of a specific course or an entire program. They act as a contract between the university and the student and it is therefore important that students have the opportunity to influence their design.
Workshop with Erik Granrot
Today's guest speaker, Erik Granrot, led an interactive workshop where participants reviewed and analyzed course and training plans. Discussions focused on questions such as:
How do we ensure that course objectives are clear and relevant?
How can we help ensure that examinations are fair and effective?
How can we work to include student perspectives in the plans?
Students' voices
Participants were very engaged in the discussions and shared their experiences and perspectives. "It was really instructive to gain a deeper understanding of how syllabi are structured and how we can use them to influence our education," said one of the participants. Another student commented: "I particularly appreciated the discussion on how we can work to make examinations more fair and accessible to all students."
Several students also highlighted that it was very rewarding to exchange experiences with other student representatives.
Looking ahead
Influence Forum #3 provided the student representatives with valuable tools for advocacy work. We hope that the knowledge and insights shared during the day will contribute to strengthening student influence at Södertörn University.
We encourage all student representatives to participate in the upcoming Advocacy Forum. It is a unique opportunity to learn more about how to influence your education and to meet other engaged students.
The next Advocacy Forum will take place on April 16 at 15.00 - see you then!
