After many years and sold books, it is unfortunately time for SöderS second-hand bookshop BookS closing its doors for the very last time.

SöderS second-hand bookshop has existed in various formats since the 2000s. During the pandemic, BookS had to close down for the first time, but was restarted in the autumn of 2023. After almost three years up and running, BookS must unfortunately close down once again.

In addition to being a bookshop, for many students BookS has also served as a point of contact and an initial gateway to student involvement at Södertörn University.

What applies to me now that I have handed in books?

You who have submitted books that have not yet been sold have received an email with information on how you can collect your books back. You can collect your books back no later than 30 June 2026.

What happens to all the remaining books?

The books that do not come from the student sale are free to pick up in the SöderS union office (F Building, Floor 5).

Why are you closing BookS?

BookS has for a longer period had difficulty reaching out to students and keeping open often, which has meant that the bookshop has required more resources than it has given back. With SöderS' goal of working economically sustainable in the long term, it is therefore the board's decision to lease the premises for something else. What it will be we do not know yet, but keep a look out in the future!

""

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has sold and bought their student literature via BookS over the years. A big thank you also to all operational managers, board members, and officers who have ensured that BookS has been able to keep running through thick and thin!
