Time to start a new association? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To set up a association group to operate at S\u00f6dert\u00f6rn University, the following three steps must be followed. Once you have completed these, you can then apply for membership of the student union!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gather round!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gather a group around your new idea, brainstorm and identify what type of association you would be. Within S\u00f6derS, there are in fact two different forms of association:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education f\u00f6rening<\/em> means that f\u00f6reningen focuses on a specific programme or subject and brings together students with a shared interest through their chosen course of study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interestf\u00f6rening<\/em> can be anything from an ideology to sport, gaming or culture, where f\u00f6reningen brings students together through a hobby or a shared interest.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Draft statutes!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You need to set out the basic rules of f\u00f6rening. Below is a downloadable template which we strongly recommend you use as a starting point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Articles of Association form the framework for f\u00f6rening and set out f\u00f6rening\u2019s name, democratic structure, purpose and more. They are an incredibly important piece of the jigsaw in ensuring the organisation\u2019s democratic structure and the survival of f\u00f6rening. For the Articles of Association to be approved by the Swedish Tax Agency and S\u00f6derS, they must include at least the following points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Section 1: F\u00f6rening\u2019s name, registered office and association 
Section 2: The purpose of F\u00f6rening 
3 \u00a7 Membership 
Section 4 Financial year 
Section 5 \u00c5rsm\u00f6te
Section 6: Dissolution of f\u00f6reningen<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hold annual general meetings!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the inaugural meeting of the annual meeting, f\u00f6reningen will be formed. At the meeting, participants will decide on f\u00f6reningen\u2019s constitution and elect the first board. A board must consist of at least three people, one of whom must be the chair.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Your association should register with the Swedish Tax Agency to obtain a company registration number. A company registration number is required in order to apply for grants or to obtain a bank card in the association\u2019s name.
